Generally graduates are placed in the business services area as we believe this provides the best possible grounding for your professional career. You will also be exposed to financial accounting, corporate structuring or restructuring, taxation accounting and assurance services. The type of work you can expect to be undertaking as a graduate includes:
- Compliance work (preparation of various tax returns, preparation of financial statements)
- Client correspondence/team administration
- Assisting in meeting client deadlines
- Providing assistance to team members
- Participation in meetings, staff training and development programs and performance appraisals.

All employees undertaking the Chartered Accountants Program through the ICAA are provided with financial support, technical notes, practice exams and paid study leave. These factors together with an extensive internal network of people that have completed the program in previous years provide the right formula for passing the Chartered Accountants Program. The results speak for themselves – we achieve results above the ICAA National Pass rate in nearly all instances (see our frequently asked questions for more information on our stance towards the Chartered Accountants Program). |

STEP 3 – The Selection and Interview Process
Graduates should be able to satisfy the following key selection criteria:
Due to the large number of applications we receive, we may conduct a preliminary telephone screening prior to organising an interview. The conversation will take less than ten minutes and is designed to see whether you can ‘think on your feet’.
If you are invited to interview with us, you will meet the Human Resources Officer and a Manager who will ask you a series of questions to determine your suitability for the role. The interview will be behaviourally based, meaning that questions are designed around the competencies of the job. You will be required to demonstrate knowledge, skills and traits by referring to specific previous experiences.
Please note: If the academic results you submitted online were not scans of originals, please bring along to the interview originals or certified copies. If you do not hold Australian Citizenship you will also need to bring relevant documents pertaining to your ability to work in Australia.
Qualities that we look for in our applicants at interview are as follows:
If you are successful in progressing to the second and final stage of interviews, you will meet with the Human Resources Partner. This interview is less structured than the first interview and will offer the opportunity to learn more about our organisation.
Prior to making an offer we will conduct reference checks with your current or previous employer. We prefer references from individuals that have previously managed you as they are in the best position to comment on your performance.
We will try to inform you of your application status in a timely manner. Please be patient with us while we go through this process. If you have any questions please contact our Human Resources Officer, Anita Cooper on (03) 9521 3000 or click here to email.
